3 Simple Rules for Dating My Music

When I get to the States, I think I really should give up TV for another two years. The past two years have been quite tube-free (change one letter in that word and things really get interesting). And within the space of a month I have already:

1. Read up cast bios of Judging Amy, Malcolm in the Middle, CSI, and Eight Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter (and doesn't Cate just look like a decaf version of Malcolm's Mom?)
2. Forming up a cariacaturish imitation of CSI: Miami's Horatio that's coming up close with my Gollum and Yoda gigs
3. Studying the TV Guide with more interest - and memorization - than I ever did with STPM Math textbooks.

Surprisingly (or not), that had nothing to do with the title of this post. I'm guessing that you're not rereading the title of this post because if you had short term memory that bad, you'd have difficulty finding the place where you left off before rereading the title of this post. Anyhoooo... in doing some copywriting for my mom, I went searching for quotes to deal with research, and found two really good ones for music - a third I got from the Jazz Band, which just has no real English translation that would do it justice.

3 Simple Rules

For most music, but especially chamber music:
How wonderfull that we have met with a paradox. Now we have some hope of making progress. Niels Bohr

Not entirely matching, but it works for musicians too:
Every honest researcher I know admits he's just a professional amateur. He's doing whatever he's doing for the first time. That makes him an amateur. He has sense enough to know that he's going to have a lot of trouble, so that makes him a professional. Charles Franklin Kettering
