Two Types of Trying

I had an unusual gig practice session with me on the violin, and friends on the oboe and the bassoon. We were splitting apart a piano+voice score, and the oboe player was wondering which part the bassoonist was picking out. So the oboe player asked, "Hey, what are you trying to play?"

To which I replied, "She's trying to play the bassoon!"

On a separate note, I found this article in the online USAToday excellent - I have broken off relationships for the Waiter Rule - which was linked from one of my regular reads, Waiter Rant.
