Back on track.... slowly.

Finally getting back to some of the regular flow of things. The last few days have gone by in a daze, I've twice nearly forgotten to get off the MRT, and I cancelled my backup recording session of the Weber. All in part due to the time needed for the biological clock to reset (a pity though, Sayowe scheduling of waking up before 7am is rather morning-productive) and basically just tired and stressed. Thinking of old times, good memories. Times gone by. The tune of Empty Chairs and Empty Tables whispers at the back to my mind too often. Saw a roasted duck's head on the road today, and wanted to take a picture of it, you know, put some poor excuse for a witty caption - but realized that I no longer thought it was funny.

It's quite something to have a viola lesson and your teacher mentions stuff that Yehudi Menuhin mentioned to him. And freaky to hear that William Primrose used to run through Kreutzer No 9 six times without stopping, every day. Three with the original fingering, and the next three with the freakish 2-4 routine. What did the fella do, inject elephant hormones into his hands? Lespek, man.

Finally got the official invitation to the Bangkok Symphony - if everything works out, November looks cool - three concerts (actually five, but three of these are repeats), and a chance to visit Saraburi and Chiang Mai. Plus time to hang out with my quartet while at one of the hotels. If politics don't get in the way of me playing, anyway.

I'm looking forward to coming back to Penang, both next week and December. I've missed out in being a more active part of some of my friends' lives.

Tomorrow its from worst to the best: the day starts with a trip to Bangkok's most disreputable place - surprise, it's actually the Immigration Department - and ends with a really nice Japanese dinner that doesn't gobble up your wallet in the process. Maybe I'll go for the sake this time.

Comments used for advertisements, sheesh. If there isn't a better way to discredit a company instead of promoting it.

you can set the comments to require character recognition like some other sites do. you have to type a bunch of letters when you comment (like on mine now) - keeps out the bots

It's the Bangkok Symphony concerts which are repeats... Shostokovich 5th again, apparently. Thanks for the support nonetheless.
